Season 1 (1996) Third Grade

Record 2-6

Both wins by forfeit

Worst losses: 20-2, 40-10

Closest loss, 11-8

Scored 10 points twice

Original roster (10): Vincent, Jack, Jonathan, Danny, Burke, Zach, Andrew, John Kjeldgaard, Joe Newman, Colin Hutchens

 

Season 2 (1997) Fourth Grade

Record 1-6

Won our last game of the year (scored 16)

Worst loss: 35-4

Closest loss: 25-24

No changes in roster

Leading scorers for season: Andrew (39), Burke (24), Danny (19), Vincent (10)

 

Season 3 (1998) Fifth Grade

Record 4-4

Biggest win: 22-8 [most points we scored in this or previous seasons]

Worst loss 28-10

Roster changes: John Kjeldgaard leaves, Lightning Jay joins

Leading scorers for season: Andrew (39—same as prior year, one more game), Danny (17), Burke (14), Jack (12).  All scored except Joe

 

Season 4 (1999) Sixth Grade

Record 0-8

Worst losses: 41-5, 47-13

Closest losses: 18-15, 27-24

No changes in roster

Joe Newman plays in jeans!

Leading scorers (missed 1.5 games): Andrew (28), Burke (16), Jack (10)

 

Season 5 (2000) Seventh Grade

Record 5-3

Biggest win: 38-7

Only one bad loss, 41-25

Roster changes: Roster expands to 12 players; Joe Newman leaves; Adam Brooks, Robert Routh, Jason Wooten added.(Jason plays in only 3 games)

Leading scorers (one game missed): Robert (42—13 points in one game), Andrew (35), Danny (26), Zach (23). 

One game: Danny 5-8 FT, Robert 5-6; Vincent goes “wrong way”; Lightning’s celebration

 

Season 6 (2001) Eighth Grade

Record 3-5

Biggest win, 34-21

Worst loss 32-19; lost one game by one point

Won first game and last two games

Zach broke his nose; John Ermer’s team beat us 32-24 (“killed us with steals and breakaways”); Danny & Lightning fouled out in one game

Roster: John Scofield replaces Jason Wooten

Everyone scored this season; leading scorers Andrew (37), Robert (32). Burke (25), John S. (24).  But a lot of balance: Lightning (12), Zach (10), Danny (9), Jonathan (8)

 

Season 7 (2002) Ninth Grade

Record 3-5

Won 3 games: 2 by one point (including last game, 31-30) and one by forfeit

One loss by one point; worst loss 32-20 (but only had 7 players); in 31-30 win, Robert scored 13 of 15 points in last quarter in come-from-behind win

Lost first three games.

Roster: Ian replaces Adam

Scoring: Robert (32), Ian (30-highest average, 7.5 ppg), Andrew (26), Lightning (23), John S. (15), Zach (11), Jonathan (10).  All but one member of the team scored. 

 

Season 8 (2003) Tenth Grade

Record 5-3

Biggest win 34-21 (even without Lightning, Ian & Danny); won another game 31-24 without Ian, Danny & Jason [Lightning & Burke with technicals; Lightning had one in another game as well]

Worst loss 41-18; 36 points in one loss

Won last three games of the season (including one by forfeit)

Roster: Jason replaces Colin

Leading scorers: Lightning’s breakout season (40 pt., 10 ppg); Andrew (33), Ian (29), Burke (23), Robert (17), Danny (13), Jack (12)

Rebounds: Lightning had one game with 15, another with 12; two games with 5 blocks each; Danny had 6,7,5 rebounds in three games

 

Season 9 (2004) Eleventh Grade

Record 5-3

Biggest wins: 54-37, 50-47 (first time over 50 pts)

Only one bad loss (42-17); other two by 2 & 3 points, respectively

Roster: John Ermer replaces Lightning

Some monster scoring games: Burke (20), John Ermer (16, twice), Jack (14), Ian (11, 10), Danny (10); One game Burke 7-8 FTs: one game, made last second baskets in 3rd and 4th quarters; big rebounding game from Jason, Danny, Jack; Danny had 3 blocks in one game

Leading scorers for season: Burke (70), John E. (56), Ian (45), Andrew (36), Danny (30)

 

Season 10 (2005) Twelfth Grade

Record through 8 games (4-4, including one forfeit)

Biggest win, 42-34; won one game by one point 40-39

Game 1, L 17-30, the refs from hell: Andrew gets a technical; Danny 5 rebs, 6 blocks; Tom two steals

Game 2, one-point win, 40-39; John E. with 5 immediate points; Tom scores first basket; Jack, 10, John E. 13; Vincent scores basket, says this was: “the most intense game I ever played in!”  John E. & Jack each with two three-pointers

Game 3: L 36-50, Ian 11, Andrew 8, John E. 7, John S., 6; Dan, 10 rebs, 4 blocks; Ian, 6 rebs

Game 4, W 42-34, Ian 13 3 three-pointers), 8 players scored; Jason, 7 rebs, John E. 3 steals

Game 5, L 24-32; Jason coaches; John E. 8 pts.  John S. with a block

Game 6, W by forfeit

Game 7, W 30-27; Danny 10 (double-double, 10 rebs), Jack 7, Jonathan & Jason 4 each; Jonathan 3 rebs in 1st quarter, Jack 6 rebs 2nd quarter; Jack 6 of his 7 points in 3rd quarter; Danny, 4 blocks, Ian 4 assists, Jason 3 Assists in 1st quarter; Jason 6 rebs.

Game 8, L 39-45; John Ermer 15, Burke 7, Ian & Danny 5 each, Andrew 4; Dan 7 rebounds, Vincent 6 rebounds; Tom 3 steals.

Roster: Tom joins team, replaces Robert who graduated

Leading scorers: Ian (50), John E. (50), Jack (25); all players have scored.  Very balanced scoring over the course of the season

 

Summary:

 

Overall record, 32-47 (14-10 over the last three years)

25-23 from 2000 on

 

19 total players

7 of original 10 were on the roster for all 10 years

Have added one player to the nucleus each of the last 5 years, all of whom have stayed on the team and contributed (John S., Ian, Jason, John E., Tom)
